Benjamin Yang is a successful entrepreneur and the Managing Director of Balanced Consultancy. He is also a Director at the Positive Psychology Center and serves as the Industrial / Organisational Psychologist and Lecturer for The School of Positive Psychology. Under his leadership, Balanced Consultancy has grown from a 2-man start-up to a regional company with a presence in Hong Kong and Philippines. Balanced Consultancy now hires close to 30 people and services clients from all over the East Asian and South-east Asian region. The success of the company has garnered much media attention, which has resulted in Balanced receiving numerous awards and accolades. This includes the Asia Pacific Top Excellence Brand 2012, Promising SME 500s, Successful Entrepreneurs 2013, Singapore Excellence Awards, Singapore Outstanding Enterprise as well as the Midas Touch Silver Award.
Besides being very active in the entrepreneurial scene, Benjamin is also an advisor and mentor for various SMEs and Startups. His expertise lies in Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Organizational Development, Positive Psychology, Industrial / Organizational Psychology, Motivation, Behavioural Economics and Human Resources. He is frequently featured in the media and has had appearances in The Straits Times, The Business Times, Singapore Business Review, etc. His other accolades include the Singapore Discovery Center Prize for Entrepreneurship, the Cast Laboratories Prize for International Business and The Bain & Co. Prize for Strategy.
Benjamin is a Valedictorian and has an Executive Masters in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology and Human Resources, and a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business and Marketing (Distinctions). His other professional qualifications include being a Certified Trainer and Assessor from the WDA (ACTA), a Certified Business Process Re-engineering Practitioner and a Certified Human Behaviourist (Leadership Institute of America). Benjamin is also sitting on the contribution panel for JustHRAsia and has various articles published in The Straits Times and Singapore Business Review.
Prior to his entrepreneurial journey, Benjamin also spearheaded Organizational Development at the Singapore Economic Development Board. He was also the leader of EDB’s research team that explored the economic opportunities for Singapore in view of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games. Benjamin has conducted various workshops for corporations and government agencies. These workshops include the application of business psychology in organizations, behavioural sciences, strategy development, organizational development, innovation, team effectiveness, visioning, leading change and positive psychology.
